We are a family-operated tropical fruit orchard located near Mareeba in Far North Queensland, growing premium mangoes, lychees and avocados. Each year we employ seasonal workers during our harvest period, generally from October through April.

Working at Gorge Creek Orchards
At Gorge Creek Orchards, we employ people from a wide range of backgrounds who are legally entitled to work in Australia. While previous orchard experience is an advantage, it is not essential. We provide training for suitable applicants who are willing to learn and contribute as part of our team. Harvest work is physically active and takes place outdoors in Far North Queensland's tropical climate. Applicants should be prepared to work in hot and humid conditions and be able to undertake manual work for extended periods. Experience is welcome but not essential, as training is provided for suitable applicants.
At Gorge Creek Orchards, employees may perform a variety of duties throughout the harvest season. Depending on operational requirements, you may be picking fruit one day and working in the packing shed or assisting with other orchard tasks on another. Flexibility and a willingness to help where needed are highly valued.
General Employment Information
What should I bring if I am offered work?
Successful applicants will receive information about start dates, clothing requirements, workplace safety and any equipment required before commencing employment.
Do I need previous orchard experience?
No. Previous experience is helpful but not essential. Training is provided for suitable applicants.
When do you recruit?
Recruitment generally takes place between September and April. Applications are accepted throughout the harvest season and are reviewed as positions become available.
Do I need to attend an interview?
Yes. A face-to-face interview at Gorge Creek Orchards is required before any offer of employment can be made. Because seasonal work often commences at short notice, applicants should only apply if they are already in, or are able to travel to, the Mareeba region for an interview when requested. We are unable to conduct interviews by telephone or video conferencing.
What type of work is available?
Work may include fruit harvesting, packing shed duties, orchard maintenance and other general farm tasks.
Is the work physically demanding?
Yes. Orchard work is physically demanding and is carried out outdoors in Far North Queensland's tropical climate. Depending on the season, duties may include walking long distances, carrying picking bags, working on ladders, repetitive lifting and working in hot and humid conditions.
What work rights are required?
Applicants must hold the appropriate Australian work rights for the position they are applying for.
How will I know if my application has been successful?
Applications are reviewed regularly throughout the harvest season. Suitable applicants will be contacted when positions become available. Due to the number of applications received, only shortlisted applicants may be contacted.
